Summer Hours begin Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day

Heartland Acres begins summer hours on Memorial Day weekend and will run through Labor Day. Regular museum hours will be 10AM – 4PM, Monday to Saturday, and Sundays noon to 4PM.  The last admission is at 3PM each day.

“Animals are back for the summer including chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, bunnies and our Long Horn steer – Red Neck Tony remains a favorite.”, stated Craig Johnson, Executive Director.

Example of one new exhibit for the summer:  “Racing Iowa”.  Items in the exhibit include dirt track race cars on loan from local racing legend Gary Crawford, a 1966 hill climb motorcycle on loan from the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, and a 2005 Solar Powered Car, donated by Team Prisum with Iowa State University.

New to Heartland Acres is an original 1938 John Deere A Tractor with side mount cultivators and the original plow donated by Charlie Goddard from Fairfax, Ia.  The items were purchased new by Charlie’s grandpa,  J.J. Buresh from Siefeman Auto Co. in Fairfax, Iowa on March 17, 1938. The tractor and the original invoice and original owner’s manual were also donated.  This is one of many historic and significant exhibits on display at Heartland Acres.
